Terms of Service

Last updated October 6, 2026

These terms apply to services provided by NUS Hosting, a Northern Unified Solutions brand (“we”, “us”), to you (“the customer”). By ordering or using our services, you agree to them. Your quote or invoice may include extra terms for your specific service.

1. Services

We provide web hosting, email hosting, domain registration, managed WordPress, virtual private servers (VPS), web design and marketing services as described on our website and in your quote. Starting prices on our website are for basic packages; your quote or invoice sets out exactly what's included.

2. Prices and payment

  • Prices in CAD, plus applicable taxes.
  • Services are billed in advance for each billing period (monthly or yearly). Invoices are due when issued unless your invoice says otherwise.
  • Services renew automatically for the same period unless you cancel before the renewal date.
  • If an invoice stays unpaid, we may suspend the service after giving you notice. Domains that aren't renewed in time may expire and could be lost.
  • We'll give you at least 30 days' notice before a price change takes effect on your service.

3. Domain names

  • Domains are registered in your name (or your business's name) and are yours.
  • Domain registrations follow the rules of the registry for each ending. A .ca domain requires you to meet the Canadian Presence Requirements of the Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA).
  • You must give accurate contact details for your domain and keep them up to date.
  • Domain fees are generally not refundable once a domain is registered or renewed, because the registry charges us at that time.

4. Acceptable use

You may not use our services to:

  • Send spam or unsolicited bulk email.
  • Host or spread malware, phishing or anything illegal in Canada.
  • Infringe anyone's copyright, trademark or privacy.
  • Attack, scan or overload other systems, or mine cryptocurrency.
  • Use an unreasonable share of a shared server's resources.

If an account breaks these rules or puts other customers at risk, we may suspend it — with notice where possible, immediately where needed to protect our systems.

5. Your content and backups

You own the content you store with us and are responsible for it. We back up hosted websites regularly, but backups are a safety net, not a guarantee — keep your own copy of anything important. On an unmanaged VPS, you are responsible for the server's software, security and backups unless we've agreed otherwise in writing.

6. Availability

We work hard to keep services running and fix problems quickly, but we can't promise uninterrupted service. Planned maintenance will be announced in advance when possible.

7. Web design and marketing projects

  • Each project gets a written quote. Work outside the quote is quoted separately before we do it.
  • You are responsible for making sure the text, photos and logos you give us are yours to use.
  • Once the project is paid in full, the website's content and design are yours.
  • We can't guarantee search rankings or results from SEO, Google listings or social media — Google and social platforms control those.

8. Cancelling

You can cancel any service by contacting us before its renewal date. When a hosting service ends, we'll help you get a copy of your website and email before it's deleted. Domains stay yours — we'll give you the transfer code on request.

9. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim related to a service is limited to the amount you paid us for that service in the 12 months before the claim. We aren't liable for indirect losses such as lost profits, lost data or lost business.

10. Non-profit discount

The 10% non-profit discount applies to registered non-profits and charities. We may ask for proof of registration.

11. General

These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. We may update these terms; the date at the top shows when they last changed, and we'll tell customers about important changes.
